Annually, the Belize Defense Force's high command takes a day out around this time of year to change its role from ordering soldiers around to quite literally becoming their servants. That's what happened today and we were at Price Barracks where we got a glimpse of the BDF's general and his colonels as well as the Prime Minister becoming waiters for the army's rank and file.
Said Musa,
"I thought it was an honor for me to be serving our soldiers. They have been serving us over the year and in previous years so its only fitting that us, who are supposed to be the authority over them, should that in this business we are in its all about service. We are servants of the people."
Cedric Borland,
"The senior leadership of the force serve soldiers the Christmas lunch and that's of course just to show honor to the dedication and hard work the soldiers have been doing throughout the year. It shows appreciation to the soldiers that we appreciate their dedication to service. I think it's an honor for the soldiers to be receiving service from the officers. It happens only once a year."
Over 200 were fed at Price Barracks today. Similar events were held countrywide for soldiers attached to district camps.
