Famed reggae crooner Dobby Dobson is in the country for a one-night performance. The man who made his name in the early days of reggae and rock steady for love songs such as "loving pauper" and "seems to me I'm losing" arrived in the country this afternoon. He stopped by our studios to tell us that his music is geared for everyone from the very young to the very old because of the universal message of love that his songs carry.

Dobby Dobson,
"I'm going to be at the Honeybeez Club as you know. I am going to be doing my usual stuff, love songs, nothing but love songs. You will never hear me sing about war in a Babylon, you will never hear me sing a song that is derogatory to women, and you will never hear me sing anything that is even a little bit off-color primarily because I am a Christian but also because I am a love song singer. What I am going to sing about Saturday night you could take your smallest child to hear me sing. I sing about asking a questioning why I get butterflies in my stomach when I'm holding you, I sing about love that a man has for his women, Muriel, and Sweet dreams; if I only had time. (There are) tons of songs but there's only one common theme, love songs. My songs are songs that perennial, they are like the grass. They don't die they live forever. They transcend generations, they transcend color, class, creed, races, everything; love songs. I would hope that deep in the recesses of every human being, of their mind their soul and their heart, that whoever you are and wherever you're from there's a part of you that remembers that love is the eternal thing, that first of all God loves you and he died for your sing, and your parents loved you. You loved your friends, you loved your girlfriends, you loved your boyfriends etc. as it may be and that telling you about drugs and that stuff it may be a thing that youths kind of lean towards. But the greatest thing, the greatest force, is love. Therefore then I see no reason why a person of 16, 14, 15, 20, 25, 60, 70 the one thing that ties them all together is what I sing about, man and woman love and if more people loved you wouldn't have violence as prevalent as it is."

Dobson performs at Club Honeybeez on Saturday night.
