This afternoon the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment along with partner organizations launched the national capacity self-assessment project. UNDP's Diane Wade-Moore says the project will allow Belize to fill in gaps where necessary in order to live up to UN commitments made on areas including biodiversity, climate change and desertification.

Diane Wade-Moore,
"The national capacity self-assessment funded by the Global Environmental Facility represents the first important step in national efforts to identify capacity gaps and to develop the relevant capacities needed for the implementation of these multi-lateral environmental agreements."

The project will run for 12 months.
