It may be embattled and under siege, but GOB is not defeated and is ready to flex its public relations muscle to prove it. Government today launched its newest public relations offensive, the Belizetoday.org magazine. Depending on how you look at it, it could be a new magazine or just the old Belize Today magazine with a splash of color. The Ministry of Information says the 24 page full color edition is a new magazine.
In his first editorial, Editor Norris Hall says the magazine is a departure from all the politics and crime and negativity that dominates mainstream news. The inaugural issue focuses on the achievement of 10 of Belize's most influential women. On the cover are Human Development Minister Sylvia Flores, Supreme Court Justice Michelle Arana, BTL's Karen Bevans, and the first female Deputy Police Commissioner Maureen Leslie. The magazine also features Financial Secretary Dr. Carla Barnett; Bridget Cullerton from Citrus Growers of Belize Limited; Social Activist Florence Dillet; Politican and Ambassador for Children Dolores Balderamos Garcia, First Caribbean Bank's Regional Unsung Hero Nurse Nancy Juan; and Senior Counsel Lois Young Barrow.
The issue will be available free of cost and will soon be available online. We understand that a television show will eventually accompany the magazine proving that no matter how broke GOB may be, there's always money for PR.
