The gifts Belize usually get from Taiwan are highly concessionary loans or technical assistance in the form of agriculture. But for Belize's 25th independence anniversary, the gift from Taiwan is cultural: it is the Taipei Folk Dance Theatre. The stop in Belize is a part their "Dream World Taiwan 2006" tour of the Caribbean. In Belize they will perform two shows. The first is tonight and today we caught with them at rehearsal. Wei-Ren Lee is the leader and he spoke to us with assistance of Erica Lee, the third secretary at the Taiwan Embassy.

Wei-Ren Lee,
[Translation] "This is a performance to show their hope of our dance future from Taiwan. Through the performance you will be able to see something from the original tribe culture in Taiwan and some from the martial arts and also a very important part of everybody's life in Taiwan is their religion and philosophy such as Darwinism and Buddhism. That influences our daily life and of course you can still see the traditional Chinese culture influence. So it is combination of all."
