It's called the Taiwan Belize Innovation Show and today it transformed a cornerstone of colonial architecture into a hothouse of new technology. And by innovation, we don't just mean fancy computers, the Taiwanese have it all from a laptop that can beam your moving image across the world, to a karaoke machine with a massive plasma screen and surround sound, they've got it. Today the curator told me that while this technology may be light years ahead of where Belize is presently, that's just where Tawian was 30 years ago.

Curator,
"Today what we are displaying is about a high tech home and a high tech office. All the products are made in Taiwan and it is really high tech. We hope that we can enhance the image here for the people to know more about Taiwan and Taiwan products.

There are forty four items and they come from thirty different companies and those companies are from Taiwan. As you can see there are computer and also consumer products and of course communication products.

Thirty years ago Taiwan was just like Belize. That's right. Taiwan is a similar size to Belize. Maybe Belize people don't have the money to buy such kind of products and they don't have the communication environment to use these type of products but you can make money."

The event was declared open by the Prime Minister, the Governor General, the Minister of Culture and the Taiwanese Ambassador.
