As you saw in the last story, this is the season of Christmas parties and Area Representatives in just about every division will be throwing parties for their constituents. But while many do a thing, everyone knows, the best parties are thrown by PUP representatives, who are generally more flashy, and always more cash-y. But, election year cometh, and today we found one UDP representative spreading the cash around.

This afternoon, incumbent Area Rep. Michael Finnegan threw a block party for one thousand children on Amara Avenue. And to do it, he blocked off traffic on Amara between King and Dean Streets at the height of the Christmas traffic crush. Finnegan told us why the street was blocked and where he got the money to throw the bash.

Hon. Michael Finnegan, Mesop. Area Rep.
"The community got together and made a decision that we should get the kids to together and give them a treat for this Christmas. We normally treat them but we never got it so massive but it was a decision from the Urban Development Committee that we do something massive for them for this Christmas."

Keith Swift,
Mike this is a massive bash, does the UDP have new money? Who is bankrolling this party?

Hon. Michael Finnegan,
"This is the entire business community. Remember we have a lot of businesses in the Mesopotamia Division and the generosity of the business community in the constituency was remarkable."

Keith Swift,
There is a Christmas traffic jam and you have a whole street blocked off for your party.

Hon. Michael Finnegan,
"This is Mesopotamia, Mesopotamia belongs to those kids and those people out here and this is the way we do it in Mesopotamia Division. We do it big time dawg."

Finnegan says he has always done something for his constituent for Christmas but it has never been of this magnitude.
