Youth For the Future wants government to ban the sale of toy guns and as part of that effort, last month the office began collecting alternative toys for children in at-risk neighborhoods. They collected 250 toys and today Youth For the Future employees played Santa and went to distribute them as wrapped gifts. Their first stop was Rocky Road and 7NEWS was there and spoke to Youth for the Future's Douglas Hyde.

Douglas Hyde, YFF
"What we are going is through areas that are hotspots in Belize exchanging toy guns for toys for the kids and also looking at underprivileged young kids and giving them some toys and stuff. We're asking kids to give up their toy guns and we are going to replace them with brand new toys and we are assisting those who basically would not have gotten a toy also for the Christmas, we want to give them an early Christmas treat. We have a total of two hundred and fifty toys right now which we are going to give out in the city."
