You probably haven’t seen it but the BBC produces a television show in England called “the Strictest Family in the World.” It’s got an interesting premise, they sent poorly behaved teenagers from privileged backgrounds into strict households in developing countries. It’s a kind of social shock therapy and now the show is recruiting in Belize. Producers are looking for five families who have teenage children and who might want to feature in the series. They are looking for a traditional, strict and English-speaking Belizean family with professional parents who have strong parenting values.

The only thing is, that British teenager comes with a BBC television crew in tow – as a camera crew will document all activities for the one week immersion. The local contact is Arlette Gomez from the Ministry of Education and she told us who they are looking for.

Arlette Gomez,
“They want to place what they call privileged teenagers from the UK in homes in Belize where parents are strict, they come from families that are disciplined, middle class, self motivated, church oriented and they are going to place them in these homes where they are going to become a part of the family, they are not guests. They are part of the family where they are going to have to do chores, attend school, do homework, go to church, and do anything that the family does. We are trying to solicit families who may be interested in being a part of this program.”

If you want to participate of if you know just the right family, you can contact Arlette Gomez at 822-3315 or send her an email at Arlette.gomez@moe.gov.bz.
