Mayor Moya Becomes a Mother

As you saw on those highlights, Mayor Zenaida Moya Flowers was very pregnant. Well tonight we can report that the Mayor is a mother. She delivered her baby via c-section at 2:08 this afternoon. The father Troy Dalla Flowers confirmed to our newsroom by text message that she had a healthy 7 pound, 12 ounce boy. The father tells us the child’s name is Kelvin LeBraun Moya Flowers. He says the Mayor is in some pain, but doing well.

Moya becomes the most senior elected official ever to have a child while in office. The distinction of the first elected official to have a child while in office went to Moya’s Councillor Hyacinth Latchman; she had her child in late 2007.
