Last night we brought you the first part of our story on Belizean author Zee Edgell - who passed away on Sunday at home in Saint Louis Missouri at the age of 80.

She was the author of 5 novels including Time and the River, The Festival of San Joaquin, In Times like these, and Beka Lamb. And she spent her life not just writing but extolling the virtues of reading.

Tonight we take a look at how Edgell imbued her most famous work with elements of the past using it to teach history while also entertaining readers.

And in the second part of Cherisse Halsall's story, she takes a look at how in writing Belize's coming of age novel, Edgell couldn't get away from the Central American tradition called Magical realism.

Zee Edgell's funeral will be held in Belize.
