Tonight we note that passing of former commissioner of police Hughington Williams. The 73 year old died at home in Belmopan yesterday evening. His family tells us that he had been ailing for some time and that he had gone downhill in the past three months.
Williams was a career cop who rose to the rank of Commissioner in September of 1999 and served in that role until his retirement in April of 2002.
From the perspective of this newsroom, his essential decency will always be remembered. He leaves behind a wife and three children.
