Tonight, CARICOM Heads of government are settling in at the Grand Caribe Resort on San Pedro preparing for two days of meetings. T's the firsts face to face meetings being held in two years - and so the sessions are expected to be intensive. But it won't be all work and no play, after all, they are on La Isla Bonita. Today, we asked the CARICOM Secretary General about hosting them on her home turf:
Dr. Carla Barnett - CARICOM Secretary General

"I know that the ministry and the prime minister are organizing social events, focusing on food and culture and so we are going to be having our delegates here, learning a lot about what being in Belize means. I am aware that the DPM of St. Vincent is visiting the south. He, in particular wanted to experience the Garifuna community, because of the relationship between St. Vincent and the Garifuna of St. Vincent and Belize and the origins of the Garifuna people of Belize being from St. Vincent and so thats part of what encouraged him and so he asked for that specifically and so that has been arranged by the ministry of foreign affairs for him to be able and go and make that kind of contact."
