"Watina!" - just saying the word is like unleashing a jolt of electricity. And indeed, the title track to Andy Palacio's groundbreaking 2007 recording has become a Belizean classic that is known to all ages, across all ethnic groups.

And today it got new life when a Calypso Rose cover version in English and Garifuna was released. And not only does it feature the famous Calypsonian - the track also has an appearance from guitar God Carlos Santana.

Ivan Duran from Stonetree records who produced the original Watina with Andy Palcio also recorded this one - which is the lead single off the 82 year old's upcoming new album. Jules Vasquez spoke to him about the significance and the possible controversy:

The Video was filmed in Hopkins 2 years ago before COVID which slowed its release.

Duran will be on Sunup on 7 tomorrow to talk about the recording and the new Calypso Rose project in greater length.

Her album named "Forever" will be released August 26th and will feature Machel Montano, Mr Vegas, Manu Chao, Santana and others.
