And back in Belize City, the Belize Tourism Board and the Belize Audubon Society teamed up with Timmy Stamp, a grassroots community activist, to get at-risk youths near tourist communities involved in afterschool programs and field trips - and, in the process, become Belizean travelers themselves.
At the agreement signing today, Stamp explained why these types of programs are important and his hope for expanding it.
And both the Director of Tourism and the Executive Director for Belize Audubon Society spoke about why they agreed to support Stamp's programs.
