Earlier in our newscast, we told you about the big government strategy for small businesses that was launched at the Biltmore. Well, in the room right next door, government and NGO organizations were meeting with representatives of the CARICOM Secretariat.
The secretariat is in Belize to conduct consultations on a draft CARICOM Regional Gender Equality Strategy. In June of last year, the Council for Human and Social Development on Gender agreed to support member states in their consultations on a draft regional gender equality strategy.
They did just that today with their Belizean colleagues, and 7News attended. Here's what the representative of the CARICOM Secretariat had to say about the importance of these discussions:
The draft document is titled "Stepping it up: A strategy to achieve gender equality in the Caribbean Community."
