December is starting with laughs both in Belize City and in Orange Walk, as Belizeans line up for the "Can't Hold Me Down" comedy show headlined by internally known Jamaican comedian "White Yardie."

We caught up with him today right after he arrived in the city to ask what we can expect from the show.

White Yardie, Comedian
"You know you have to expect niceness it's my second time here in Belize and I enjoy it here. It's a nice place, the vibe is nice, and people are friendly as well from what I see anyway so yeah man it's going to be a good night. It's going to be two nights so it's going to be two good nights of comedy."

"Listen man all I know is I'm just happy to be back traveling again Covid was long, the lockdown was tiring yo, like trust me I'm gonna speak a lot about what I've been through over the last three years in terms of lockdown, Covid and things like that cause Covid is the baddest thing we ever see in this world you know so we have to talk bout it."

Cherisse Halsall:
"Alright so I know you have some young Belizean performers on with you, you know anything about them yet?"

White Yardie, Comedian
"Um, mostly David me know bout, you know, like I've seen his journey as well. I remember during the lock down, there was a like we had a Skype meeting, a zoom meeting and he was there and he was asking for advice and stuff like that so I'm looking forward to seeing both of them but I want to see just how they have progressed in terms of comedy and what thier style is like and stuff like that."

Cherisse Halsall:
"Lots of Belizeans are familiar with you for your shorts, your Tik Toes, what's your message to them the ones that are excited to see you?"

White Yardie, Comedian
"Hey listen man, you know live comedy is the best comedy, you ae watching it on the phone and stuff like that it's not the same as seeing it live you know the phone, we can edit videos and make them look very good but when you watch us live it's different so I enjoy doing live comedy, that's where my thing more certify."

Cherisse Halsall:
"You get to kind of feed off the crowd's vibe and things like that?"

White Yardie, Comedian
"Yeah, yeah like when I do shows sometimes I have a certain material that I will work with but if the crowd has energy and vibes and I can feed off of it I love that too because it's live comedy and that something you didn't plan, you gone off script, so when you do a joke live there with somebody in the audience it's probably the best joke of the night because people know you didn't plan that joke, so yeah."

The Belize City show takes place on Friday, and the Orange Walk show on Sunday, December 4th.

And Tune in to Sunup on 7 in the morning as White Yardie and his local comedy crew give the Sunup crew their own preview of the show.
