And you've heard the mayor refer to the council's transparency and the minutes of their meetings repeatedly, but are they keeping true to their word? When we checked the website, the last minutes published were for August 2022, so there's been a two month gap, since we're still in November.
The mayor explained that they're not perfect but at least they're trying.
Courtney Menzies:
"You speak about minutes often but when I check the website, the Belize council website, the last minutes were published on August 2022, before that it was June and before that it was March so there's been some gaps. Will you guys make more of an effort to-."
Bernard Wagner, Mayor of Belize City
"Yes we will, everything… prior to this city council of 2018, there was no minutes of any previous council so there is always this process and it's a process that continues to be improved and we know we have not reached there yet, we're not saying that we have reached there, but we have tried and your boss could say that he asked the previous council many times to put minutes, this council went ahead with the request."
