When Vybz Kartel was released from prison two weeks ago, you heard from the streets of Belize, and most people we spoke to were overjoyed at the outcome. That's because - for many - Kartel is a regional icon of dancehall music - even if he has been convicted of murder.
And with his newfound freedom, the man they call "World Boss" is coming to Belize. He went on TikTok live today to say he's planning a "baecation" in a couple of weeks:
But one Belizean didn't wait for him to come here. Shyne Barrow - who is on an official visit to Jamaica - used the opportunity to reconnect with his longtime friend. Barrow once visited him in prison along with party chairman Michael Peyrefitte and today Kartel returned the favor with a major endorsement:
As for Kartel, we will know in a few weeks if he will be laid up on the beaches of San Pedro, or maybe zip lining through the jungles of Cayo.
On his trip to Jamaica, Barrow has met with the Prime Minister of Jamaica, the leader of the opposition and other notable Jamaican politicians and business leaders.
