And while Espat was in his Cayo constituency today for an inauguration which we'll tell you about later, he was notably absent in Toledo East on the day of the by-election. Espat had originally supported Melhem Espat's candidacy over Dr Osmond Martinez. But Dr Martinez won the convention and then the election. So today we asked Minister Espat his thoughts on Martinez's ascension to Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Trade.

Julius Espat, Minister of Infrastructure Dev. & Housing
"I wish him all the best."

Reporter:
"You were not present- a lot of minister went to Toledo East that day of the election, you were not present."

Julius Espat, Minister of Infrastructure Dev. & Housing
"I think the deputy wasn't present either [laughs]. Dr Martinez and i have no problem. I made a stance based on principle and that's over, he is elected by the people and we will work. I have no, there's no problem at all."

Fact check, DPM Hyde was in Punta Gorda on election day and was interviewed by our team.
