UNESCO will Consider Sambai on Tuesday

As we reported on Friday, Belize has nominated the living heritage tradition of "Krismos Bram and Sambai" of Gales Point ManateeVillage to the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

The tradition is expected to be examined at the UNESCO 20th Session in New Delhi, India tomorrow. Due to the time difference that means it will happen sometime between 3:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. Belize time. Belize is represented by a delegation from the Institute for Social and Cultural Research, the National Kriol Council, and cultural leaders from Gales Point Village.
