It may have been built 1500 years ago - but one of Belize's most famous Maya sites is now benefitting for a 21st century modernization.
BEL has partnered with NICH to commission a new solar power system at the Xunantunich Archaeological Reserve. The system is capable of generating up to 1,500 milliwatt hours of clean energy per month, in addition to a 21 kilowatt hour battery storage system. This enables a reliable power supply during nighttime hours and rainy spells.
A press release says it will result in enhanced onsite services for visitors among other things.
