Just a minute before news time 7NEWS received a letter from George Frazer to the Chief Education Officer. It says that as of 4:00 pm the Teachers Union is calling a halt to its strike action, pending consultation and direction from the Council of Management and the National Trade Union Congress. As we understand it the halt may only be a temporary measure because of the long weekend and the Council of Management will re-convene on Tuesday to decide if it will re-launch the strike. That's the most optimistic spin for the teachers but the bottom line is that as of tonight the teachers strike has been called to a halt.
