6,083 primary school students are probably breathing easier tonight after sitting the second and final part of their primary school leaving exam. Today the students sat the always troublesome mathematics section and the less difficult Social Studies papers of the PSE at 26 authorized centers around the country. The PSE is perhaps the first big exam for many and for most it will be the ticket into or out of high school. We today checked in at the ACC testing center which hosts students from St. Ignatius and Wesley Primary Schools. The students told us how they felt they did on the big test.
Hugh Bodden, St. Ignatius Student
"The reason it was challenging was because you have lots of steps but basically it was just common sense. Once you could use your head, you could have figured out those problems. About a month ago the English and the Science was challenging but kind of easy compared to the problem solving and the social studies. I have a good feeling I did a great job."
Monique Miguel, St. Ignatius Student
"I studied hard last night until minutes to one and I get up early this morning and I feel like I am scared. I felt scared but I am not scared at school. I felt scared in the exam room. I think I passed."
John Meighan, Wesley Student
"Very challenging. The problem solving was tricky, kinda tricky."
Bedran Noralez, St. Ignatius Student
"It was kinda difficult."
Shanike Weir, Wesley Student
"Math one was easy but math two was kind of difficult. The social studies was easy. It was easier than a month ago. I was more calmer and I could think better."
The students won't have to wait long to find out how they did as the folks at the testing unit say results should be out next month, which is a record turnaround time.
