The Belize Catholic Association of Principals of Secondary Schools today spoke out - condemning what it calls a protest commencement exercise being planned by some parents of Muffles College graduates.
Muffles College of course didn't have a regular graduation ceremony this year because of a cheating scandal. Students allegedly bought their diploma exams from a teacher. That teacher has now been fired and those students who cheated took a different test. The school also cancelled the prom and instead of a graduation ceremony, they held a graduation mass this past weekend. That didn't sit too well with some parents and they have planned their own ceremony for Sunday.
The BCAPSS says Sunday's planned service is disturbing but equally so is that a past principal of the school, Leliz Carballo, will participate in the ceremony and hand out certificates. The release ends with an unequivocal support for the decision of the Muffles College Board of Governors.
