Instead of the classroom, Lucky Strike Government School's 135 students along with their parents are being asked to report to the protest line on Monday morning. The Village Council is calling for an indefinite shutdown of the village's primary school on Monday because of inadequate bathroom facilities.
Actually for months the school has been using rented portable toilets but that is costly and as of today the school gave back the leased toilets. So facing the possibility of students in school without bathroom facilities, Village Council Chairman Oscar Pollard told 7NEWS they will be closing down the school. Pollard expressed his frustration with the Ministry of Education to which he has written numerous letters and who promised to fix the problem. Pollard threatened to close down the school because of the toilet situation on August 31st. A month later he told us its time to act.
