Two weeks ago, you heard Deputy Chief Education Officer Allan Gennity try to account for the fact that 70% of candidates failed the PSE. Well, the teachers union has issued an angry release, calling him out for, in its opinion, scape-goating teachers. It calls Gennity's remarks, "distressing and most repugnant...finger pointing and negative...maligning and blaming teachers to the most part."
So then who is to blame? Well the union says...well, everyone. But among the causes are lack of interest by parents, lack of textbooks for needy children, the questionable appointments of some principals, the Ministry's curriculum and the exam itself. The unions calls on the Ministry to work with it to address the myriad problems.
