There was a scary accident involving a standard middle school student at Holy Redeemer School today. Sometime between 8:00 and 8:30, Standard two student Mikaela Chiac toppled over this very high verandah in front of her classroom. According to the school, she was not feeling well, and leaned over the verandah – as if to throw up, fainted, she lost her balance and tumbled over.
Miraculously, though it’s at least a fifteen foot drop, she was unhurt; according to the schools she only received abrasions to her knees. There was a nurse nearby when she fell, so she was immediately treated. The school says she was rushed to the KHMH where she received x-rays and tests which all came back negative.
When we visited the school this afternoon, workers were re-enforcing and raising the verandah railing.
