The Living Hope School - it's a private, unaffiliated school, but you definitely won't hear its name amongst the top finishers for the PSE. And that's because Living Hope is a last chance prep school for students who could not get into high school because of poor PSE grades. So Living Hope gives them a chance to have another go at it. It's an important service but now the school is being kicked out of its home at the back of the City Center. It's not some random act of administrative apathy, it's because the City Center is being torn down.
The Principal told us here school needs help to find somewhere else to go.
Rev'd Natalie Dawn Bowen - Principal, Living Hope Prep School

"Living Hope, right now is being evicted - well the Civic Center is going to be destoyed and so, we are in need of a building for our school, we a building in mind, but it will take some finance to attain this buidling so, right now we will get some funding, that will help is to purchase, or to rent a building for our school. Well, the building itself costs - the one that we've have seen - costs $350,000. The rent costs $2,000 per month. So that's what we're looking at right now. That's the figure. Sometimes, people out there view these children as problem kids, and I see them as kids an opportunity to change. And if you give them an opportunity to change, then they will change. But if you don't, then they will return back to the streets, and they will become a problem to society. That's what Living Hope does.
The school usually houses 40 to 50 students. 17 of them are graduating this year.
