And in another gesture just in time for November.

Caye Caulker's police department has finally been furnished with new and improved housing. The previous barracks were dilapidated, and today, the Minister of National Security along with the Minister of Tourism and the Police Commissioner inaugurated the building. According to Michael Peyrefitte, they got quite a bang for their buck as the 8 bedroom barrack comes fully furnished.

But, not all are pleased, as there are already complaints that the new barracks is a hot box since there are no fans. Still, it is a major upgrade from the previous barracks.

Menzies On A Mission

He's the only candidate for the party called the BCCA, short for the "Belize Can Conservative Alliance."

And even though Patrick Menzies the dual citizen can't run for office and his name is not on the ballot, preposterously, he wants people to write his name in!

Still, he feels that as a one-man party he can get into government.

Menzies says he's looking at early next week to try and get a hearing date for his shot at a late nomination.

An Ice Cream Halloween

And…so far tonight the news has been just politics and COVID…so on to something a little sweeter…the Ice Cream Shoppe is adding to "treat" to the usual "trick and treat" this Halloween. While streets would usually be crowded with children going door to door in hopes of filling their baskets with candy, COVID has prevented that. Still, the Ice Cream Shoppe wanted to make sure that kids would still get their sweets with a special Halloween competition and brand new ice cream flavors.

The competition ends at 9 tomorrow night.

NICH Big On Culture

NICH is bringing their cultural tour to the Belize District tomorrow. Residents can sit back and relax while watching attractions on their television. The Acting Communications Officer, Yadira Argueta, told us what viewers can expect.

Yadira Argueta, Acting Communications Officers, NICH
"So far we've done the Corozal District, which was the first episode and then we did Dangriga, well, Stann Creek, and last week we had Cayo District and this week we're featuring the Belize District which is one of the biggest and so we're highlighting all artists, culture, the whole culture aspect of the Belize District so places that you can visit or different tourist attractions like for instance this week's show we're actually featuring, we have, I think the host, DJ Dalla, visited Shark Ray Alley so it's just different things you can do while you're in Belize District and we have artists that will be performing live, well it's prerecorded, we have Dajah, Denise Castillo, Prophet, Ernestine Carballo, TY, Jah Art, Marlen, and Nello Player just to name a few and we also have Brad Patico and Evolution Sounds in the lineup as well."

Sapna Budhrani, President, NICH

"This show has come about after September celebrations where we thought we should still interact with our stakeholders and we continue that program for October and November so every weekend we are airing a part of Belize. It is somewhat difficult to showcase entire districts so we try to showcase as much as we could in two hours because we also want our viewers at home to be entertained and the people who are abroad, many of our people abroad either during the show or after the show, depending on the time zone, appreciate looking at Belize. Many of them wish they can come to Belize but instead of coming physically to Belize, we're delivering Belize to them virtually or through the media platforms."

It will be livestreamed on various platforms and show on channel 7 tomorrow night at 8.

One Recovery From Ventilator

And in a little bit of good news, there is one patient who had COVID, came off a ventilator and is ready to go back to work. He's a doctor, an epidemiologist from the western region who was hospitalised in early September and went on a ventilator shortly after that. Well, so far he is the only person to survive intubation.

Dr, Manzanero gave us an update today:

Who Is Fuelling The COVID Fire?

And finally on COVID tonight….we asked Dr. Manzanero about the strategy for managing the public health crisis as it continues to widen.

As we told you there were 4 seats reported yesterday and two more recorded today. And there is just so much the,Ministry of Health can do. We spoke to Manzanero about the perilous tipping point
