But for those students not affected by the outbreak, school continues as per normal. And for those gearing up for graduation, the minister said there are already protocols in place to ensure there is pomp and circumstance without the risk of COVID spread.

But before the diploma, those students will need to sit their CXC exams. Well, Minister Fonseca told us they've got that covered as well. While there is no date as yet, he said they are working with schools to fully prepare students:

Hon Francis Fonseca, Minister of Education

"There is established protocol between the ministry and different managing authorities regarding graduation protocol, so it differs from managing authority to managing authority but there is an established protocol for graduation. And in terms of external examinations for CXC, again that has been ongoing for several months and there has been a challenge in ensuring that students have access to the material they need to complete their SBA's and to take their CXC examination, well that is a regional discussion that's taking place so the deadlines have been changed over the past few months, over the past four, five months, the deadlines have been extended so I think CXC has a new deadline for registration that I think is coming up very shortly and everything is in place, the structure is in place, it's a reginal structure that we have agreed to and our local registrar is working to ensure that all the schools have downloaded all the necessary documents for the SBA's and so and I think that is going fairly well. I think last time I checked, only two schools had not finished downloading and submitted the relevant information in terms of the SBA's. which is very important to our students. I think we have close to over 2,500 and something students who have registered for CXC so far."
