Caye Caulker RC School is one of those that opened for hybrid learning the month - but they've had to close their doors after 7 cases were found at the school: that's 3 staff and four students.
A Ministry of Education release says "They are presently, in quarantine recovering from the virus. Furthermore, all staff members who are infected are fully vaccinated and are experiencing mild to no symptoms."
The release adds that immediately after receiving confirmation of the first case, the school contacted the relevant ministries who approved the closure of the school for sanitisation and contact tracing purposes and initiated a contact tracing exercise which uncovered the remaining 6 cases.
Presently, the Ministries of Education and Health have approved a return to distance/remote learning until January 2022. that;That's because there is active community spread on Caye Caulker which would hinder hybrid learning at this time.
So, for now, Mondays will be the day set aside for parents to drop-off and receive distance learning packages for their children.
