And while there are 94% of schools that have been approved for reopening, there are still some that need to be greenlit. The Ministry is encouraging all schools to apply so that they can get the supplies they need – whether it's social distance markers or hand wash basins – or in some schools, running water. Dr Zabaneh told us that the district education centers are currently working with those schools:

Hon. Dr. Louis Zabaneh - Minister of State, Ministry of Education
"The information I had up to Sunday right before school opened was that 570 schools have been approved, who applied and we're approved, and we have about 630 schools so we almost have pretty much all of our schools who have felt they can bring back their kids following these protocols. We have our district education centers who are out there, in fact here in Dangriga I saw the ministry vehicle traveling up and down and working with those rural schools making sure that, for example, they have asked for sanitation supplies and all that stuff. So we have to be the ones who are vigilant and try to figure out what exactly is going on, on the ground to give the kind of assistance that they need to be able to serve their kids."
