And here in Belize City, the Itz'at Steam Academy is set to open in August. It's a brand new high school that is the first of its kind, focusing on the STEAM subjects - science, technology, engineering, art, and math. The school is located inside the ITVET compound, but if you've passed by recently, you'll see it's still under construction. And if you're one of the students who have already been accepted there, you may be a little worried. But today the Minister of Education said those students and parents can be rest assured that the academy will be opened this coming school year.
Francis Fonseca, Minister of Education

"A timely question, I just visited it yesterday. I am assured that it will be ready, the entire structure will not be ready August but one of the buildings so we will start with one of the buildings which should be completed at the end of July and then I am told that the other building will be completed the end of August so yes there's a lot of work going on there, I think they have like 96 people working on the building with a sense of urgency so I'm confident we'll be able to start and then as I said in a month or two later the entire project will be completed but we have a plan to start."
