As we have been reporting, all is not well in the Punta Gorda Town Council and more proof of that came today when the mayor blew off a meeting called by four dissident councillors.

As we reported 5 councillors had signed a letter in early June complaining to the Minister of Local Government about the possible mismanagement of funds in the council.

The Minister held a meeting to bring all sides together but earlier this week, those same councillors wrote another letter, saying, quote, "It has been one (1) month since the quorum of our council signed a letter concerning some ongoing issues at the Council, and three (3) weeks since all seven members of the Council met with Honourable Minister Oscar Requena. Following that meeting, nothing has been done to resolve these issues that exist at the Punta Gorda Town Council." End quote.

With that they called the Mayor to a meeting today which he did not show up for. Outside the councillors spoke to PG TV - but they had nothing to say:

Malcolm Galvez, Town Councillor

"The roads works - that is what we will meet about next week. Whenever we meet with the mayor, we'll discuss those. He wasn't here today, we couldn't get in depth with that."

Reports say they want to discuss a half a million dollar contracts for streets awarded to RODLA construction in May without their input or knowledge. We'll keep following the story...
