And while the ministry may have resolved the financial frustrations of these instructors, Fonseca also cleared up for us the issue involving the 30 ITVET students in Orange Walk who were sent home due to outstanding school fees.

Contrary to direct reports we have received from parents, he says that no one was sent home, but instead these students were called to school along with their parents to work out a payment plan:

Francis Fonseca, Minister of Education
"In the case of the Orange walk, ITVET our discussions with the manager of the Orange Walk ITVET The briefing that I got, he said that the students were not sent home they were asked to bring their parents to school to discuss a payment plan for the remaining outstanding fees that they owed that was done and my understanding is that that issue has been resolved, and the students have been back in school since last last week sometime Wednesday or Thursday and they have worked out a payment plan with the parents for the remaining outstanding fees. We made it very clear to them that students should not be out of the classroom because they have not paid their fees. There has to be something worked out."
