They have heard the complains of the indigenous umbrella group SATIIM but the Ministry of Natural Resources has gone ahead and granted full formal and official approval to us capital energy to conduct seismic surveys in the Sarstun-Temash National Park. In a release today, the Ministry says it is satisfied that the seismic technique being used is low impact and will only minimally disturb the park's ecosystem. The release stresses that the national parks act does not prohibit the granting of such permits.
Word is that SATIIM will apply for judicial review of the Ministry's decision.
