This morning at around 1:30, the stilts supporting a concrete house in the Belama Phase 1 area of Belize City buckled. This is what is left after the structure fell off its 3 foot stilts. Information to 7NEWS is that the building was constructed in 1991 under the Housing and Planning Unit. The owner has been occupying the house for the past 19 years and up until the present, she had no problems with it. However the sudden collapse is now a concern since there are other buildings in the area constructed during the same period which may now have to be evaluated for their structural soundness.
