In April we told you about a contest, the “Friendly Mangrove Shoreline Development Challenge’ funded by the World Wildlife Fund to help conserve our country’s mangroves. These mangroves, a necessary part of the environment to prevent flooding and soil erosion, are being cut down to make way for development all over the country.
Contestants were required to submit plans on incorporating mangroves into a landscape design and today, we found out who won.
These winning layouts were all unique and demonstrated strategic ways of preserving mangroves. They were at Sunset Pointe condominiums in Placencia and Cocoplum Development in Seine Byte as well as Corozal Town and the Vidrine Residence in san Pedro. The winners were Jennifer Bond, Stewart Krohn, Craig Timmons, Tom Viridine, and the BTIA. Winners received certificates and a cash prize.
