The Ministry of Forestry, Fisheries and Sustainable Development hosted the Third National Clean Development Mechanism Workshop yesterday. It may sound like gibberish but the workshop is all about reducing greenhouse gasses to reduce global warming. Countries like Belize which hardly emit any greenhouse gasses are thus in a curious position - and that's what the European consultant discussed.

Maurico Savalia Romero, Researcher - UNEP Denmark

"I don't believe in the world like the Hollywood folks when you have a bad guy and a good guy. The atmosphere doesn't recognize any border. So the question for the Belizean citizen is what kind of growth do you want to follow? If you want to be responsible with the planet and with yourself and your next generation because unless we have only one planet. I don't believe in those science fictions novels where you can run away to Jupiter or other planets."

THE WORKSHOP IS PART OF THE KYOTO CONVENTION.
