Last Wednesday, we showed you how the Senate gave its approval to the Briceno Government to ratify the Framework Agreement on the Establishment of the International Solar Alliance.

As we told you, the ISA is a major global initiative for the implementation of the Paris Climate Agreement, and it envisions rapid deployment of solar energy units.

Now, Rodwell Ferguson, the Ministry of Public Utilities, Energy, and Logistics, formally signed the framework agreement on behalf of Belize. With his signature, Belize is now a member of the ISA.

Currently, the ISA consists of 122 sun-belt countries that lie between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn as prospective member countries. Globally, 90 countries have already signed on to the treaty.
