Now that Mexico has resumed ADO bus runs in the country, could we soon be seeing a new form of sustainable transport in Belize?

Well, the electric buses that were promised one year ago - may actually be here before the municipal elections.

As we have reported, the Belize City Council has partnered with the United Nations Development Programme, the Ministry of Public Utilities, Energy, Logistics, and E-Governance, to implement an electric buses pilot programme in Belize under the E Mobility Project. This public-private partnership is set to be launched in December 2023 and will be piloted for a year. These electric 49 seater buses have a range of 161 miles achieved lithium iron phosphate batteries.
