And a nearby area affected by floods is Crooked Tree where the causeway and part of the village remains submerged.

Yesterday we asked the country's Chief Highway Engineer what can be done for the often flooded causeway:

Evondale Moody, Chief Engineer - MIDH
"There are secondary roads that has been damaged, like the Crooked Tree road, and the section that was damaged was closer to the area where you dip down going into the lagoon itself because we had to reduce that elevation to tie back into the existing two structures that are there."

"But once we have the opportunity to build those two new structures across the causeway, more than likely we will celebrate that last section, to enable us to have access to Crooked Tree. But as you know, Crooked Tree is still under water completely. So I'm not sure how much the causeway would have helped or will help in the future."

"Because looking at the footage that I've seen on TV, the entire village is underwater. So even if we build a causeway, the village is still inundated by flood water. So you could get out, but you still live in water."
