Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, and Panama - who are member states of the Comprehensive Regional Protection and Solutions Framework - have adopted the Belize City Declaration, underscoring their commitment to enhancing protection and promoting durable solutions for over 2.4 million displaced people in Central America and Mexico. The declaration, announced during the eighth MIRPS Annual Meeting, highlights strengthening asylum systems, creating livelihood opportunities, and improving access to education and healthcare as key priorities.
Belize is currently serving as the 2024 Pro-tempore Presidency, and the PM emphasized the importance of regional cooperation.
