One man in Cayo is grieving after watching helplessly as his dogs were stung repeatedly by killer bees sometime after 4 yesterday evening. Roy Perez said that was trapped in his vehicle, unable to assist because the bees had stormed him as well. He added that now that BAHA does not assist with bee removals, persons have to pay over $300 to get help. After this massive loss, he is now appealing to the government to start providing this service free of cost once again.

Roy Perez - Dog Owner
"I came by, I passed my yard which is just across and everything was okay, my dogs were fine, I was away for like 10-15 minutes and I came back, when I came back, my dogs were under attack by killer bees. The worst thing is I parked right in front of the gate, right close to where we are right now and I couldn't do anything. I had this silly, helpless feeling seeing my dogs being killed literally because the minute I parked, the bees came over the vehicle and I couldn't even get out. So I just sat right there, I went back, I got a few more cans of fish spray hoping that something would happen and I came back and it was the same. Bees were all over the place, I saw the dogs being bitten, going down slowly until sometime later one of the people who are in charge of doing that now, privately, dealing with these bees came by, I understand somebody called him, I think Eliu called him, he came by but it was already late but he came by, he went into my yard with the spray and started to try to do something, the dogs were already far gone so nothing could have been done at that time. I lost four dogs, two Rottweilers and two females, a cane corso and a German shepherd. That's in the range of five to six thousand dollars worth of dogs. And I've invested a lot of money into these dogs, they're breeding dogs, or they were."
"these bees have been in this area since last week Saturday, they were at my brother's house right around the corner, some of them. He called Mr Maas, Mr Maas came and dealt with the bees, he paid $350 for that. I think that approach needs to be revisited or something has to be done because in these times $350 doesn't come easy for anybody."
"this thing that this matter is privatized needs to be revisited because previously BAHA, as I recall, was in charge of dealing with these situation and that worked now people have to pay $350, most people wouldn't be able to pay it."
"It's a huge loss for me
