And now the prison is down to two water sources, with only one of them safe for usage. According to Acting CEO Woods, fixing their reverse osmosis system was no longer a feasible option for them. He explained why.

"We had abandoned that RO system many years ago, several years ago, because of the same issue I told you about, because of the iron. The iron content would plug the filters and it was cost prohibitive to maintain the system with the filters it needed, so we just reverted back to BWS water."

"Would you be able to say, or can you determine when you stopped using the system? You said sometime ago?"

"And then you reverted back to BWS?"

"It was just not cost sustainable. It was very expensive to replace the filters so frequently because of the iron content. It was like a rust type of material that plugs the filters, so it just was not sustainable."
