A mental patient met his death this evening after he attacked his mother.
Judith Petillo told us this evening that she was at home when her son Fred Petillo attacked her in such a violent manner that she had to fight hard to defend herself. But that defense went awry when Fred was put in a choke hold and he fell to the ground and while it is not clear how he met his death his mother says that it's been more than just a physical struggle trying to raise her son.
Judith Petillo, Mother of Deceased
"When I see that he didn't get up back and threw water on him but he still didn't get up and telling him to get up. So my nephew came and I asked him for help and then we started to throw water on him and he still didn't get. So we thought he died because my neighbor came and checked too and told and me he must have died."
Alfonso Noble,
"So he was a sick person?"
Judith Petillo,
"Yes he was a mental patient. I always went to the doctors with him and I used to doctors that he used to beat even me. I told them I couldn't handle it given the size of my son. He would get violent with me when I couldn't give him what he wanted or if I wanted to go on the street. And when he goes on the street he likes to attack people and they told me I had to keep him home. But I told them I couldn't but they me I could because he is child."
"He looks like he is dead because I am throwing water on him and he is still not getting up. He must have died."
Alfonso Noble,
"You any kind of way about that?"
Judith Petillo,
"Well I feel a kind of way yes because it is my son."
Fred Petillo was 28 years old.
