There are no serious injuries to report tonight after a Maya Island Air Cessna caravan ran off the runway in Corozal. Unconfirmed reports are that at 5:15, the pilot was taking off for San Pedro with 11 passengers on board when he aborted, and hit a tree at the end of the runway - which reportedly caused structural damage to the aircraft. Only minor injuries have been reported to us.

Victor Vernon, Maya's Director of Operations told us that it was a small incident and all 11 passengers and the pilot are being assessed at the nearest hospital. He says he could not discuss any injuries because no official medical report had been released. As regards the report that a wing was damaged in the collision: Vernon told us: "we don't care about the aircraft, we care about our passengers." We'll have more on this in tomorrow's newscast.
