Caye Caulker’s primary school, two kindergartens, and the high school will closed for the next four or five days as a precautionary measure. That’s because as many as 140 students had to be sent home since school started two weeks ago. It is feared to be the h1ni1 virus. And while there are widespread absences and illness, Government reports that there only six suspected cases of H1N1 at the Caye Caulker RC Primary School while eleven samples have been sent to CAREC. In other government news, Cabinet reports that based on what it calls “two positive meetings” with the BNTU and the other with the Roman Catholic Bishop’s Commission, regarding proposed revisions to the Education Act, the decision has been taken to have the proposed amendments passed by the National Assembly by the end of the calendar year.
