We've all heard the stories of Covid time pregnancies and deliveries, no partner allowed in the ultrasounds, higher risks of hospitalization, and instances of having to give birth alone.
All in all, it doesn't sound like an ideal time to become a mom. And in the face of all these fears, there's an increased risk of contracting the disease. And that's just what happened to Brenda Corea ahead of the birth of her daughter.
Tonight she remains in the hospital intubated and in an induced coma. Here's her story.
We sought comment on Ms. Correa's case from the KHMH. They say that while daily updates are being provided they are being provided to her registered next of kin, who is not her brother. The hospital's policy is to speak directly with only one family member with the expectation that they disseminate the information.
They also confirmed that while today's update was late it was provided. Yesterday was the only day that an update was not provided, but that was due to demands of a full unit.
